About the Founder
Thomas Lundgard grew up in Half Moon Bay, California, where he began surfing at age 15 at the legendary local surf spot called Mavericks. Now that he is in Santa Barbara, he can frequently be found catching waves at Rincon. He developed an entrepreneurial spirit by selling things on Craigslist and the drive to build a business went from there.
The Scheinfeld Center has a great program. It helped me turn an idea into reality along with overcoming the fear of public speaking.

Thomas Lundgard's Success Story
Meraki Surf focuses on three main factors to distinguish the company from competitors – comfort, designs and price. Lundgard wanted to create underwear that was affordable and not boring, like many competitor products. He was inspired to have the beach-themed designs on the underwear when he was sitting on the beach one day wondering ‘Why are these designs only on board shorts?’
The underwear is made of a material called Modal that is three times softer than cotton, use a soft tagless waistband, and follows the flow of your body. He plans to sell directly to consumers online and cut out the middlemen when it comes to sourcing material in order to reduce costs.
