At the same time, earn an A.A. degree or certificate in Entrepreneurship! You will find that entrepreneurship more than an academic discipline at Santa Barbara City College—it’s our passion, and we’re here to assist you in finding your shine as an entrepreneur!
Justin Connell won two Scheinfeld Center business pitch competitions in 2012: Enterprise Launch Demo Day and the 2nd Annual Scheinfeld Center New Venture Challenge (NVC) from which won the grand prize of $4,000 in seed capital. Soon after winning these competitions, he also received $250,000 from an outside investor, valuing his company at $1 Million!
At the age of 12, Spencer Shulem created his first business, a tech review website which garnered 1.5 million visitors in its first month. His entrepreneurial achievements continued, and in late 2014 he launched his mobile app, called Onus™ (now WeDo) due largely to the guidance and connections he received from the Scheinfeld Center’s Enterprise Launch™ program and the New Venture Challenge business plan and pitch competition.
When SBCC student, Doni Nahmias, found his first business did not work out as planned, he didn’t let that stop him from creating a second. Doni, a Spring 2014 participant in the New Venture Challenge, said “If one project doesn’t work you have to be able to let it go and move on to the next.”
